CLT-W Mathematics Achievement Systematic Review (MA-SR) 2010

Research conducted under the Center for Learning and Teaching in the West National Science Foundation (NSF) grant. Directed by Dr. Paul Kennedy and Dr. R. Brian Cobb at Colorado State University, was conducted by then CLT-W doctoral fellow Dr. James J. Dugan.

Abstract of Study: A systematic review of interventions in secondary mathematics with at-risk students was conducted. The goal was to identify interventions most successful at improving mathematics achievement while reducing mathematics achievement gap. Effective interventions identified were (a) instructional interventions (cognitive and metacognitive approaches, cooperative learning, and peer tutoring) and (b) technology-based interventions.
